Vertical Cities is a notated composition for analogue synthesiser and MIDI keyboard. The score operates in a cyclical form with no specified duration. Descending intervals and an ascending scale sound out within an indeterminate loop, falling in and out of synchronicity. Gate forces the performer to work against the computer as audio signal cuts out dependant on levels of pressure applied to MIDI keys.

The composition features on 7balcony’s (Zach Dawson, Richard Stenton) debut album, available via NMC Records (CD, digital) and on vinyl. The short run of vinyls will soon be available to purchase.
